This short video and story on EurekAlert! explain how we were able to reconstruct monthly stream flows dating back to the 1400s AD on three rivers in northern Utah from annual tree rings and other data. The peer-reviewed research was recently published in the Journal of Hydrology. These stream flow reconstructions have several applications in water and drought planning and management.
